I have downloaded some files from NCBI's "Short Read Archive" (SRA). They come in an encrypted format. (The files have the extension "sra.ncbi_enc".) Directions for using this are here:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK63512/ These directions include this: "The first step is to run configure-assistant.pl, a script that configures the decryption tool and setting up decryption password. The decryption password of downloaded files needs to be provided when running the script. Please see here for more about decryption password." I couldn't download the normal decryption tool, because the options to download it include options for various operating systems, but don't include mine, which is Ubuntu Linux 64 bit. I can download the "SRA Toolkit", and this includes tools with the same names as the decryption tool ("vdb-decrypt"), but I couldn't get the perl script to work with these. Does anyone have a suggestion? (I realize this is very arcane and a long shot, but I thought I'd try.) Thanks. Eric |
