Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Illumina's Fast Track Services offers array and sequencing services to the scientific community. Over the years, Illumina Fast-Track Services has delivered data to the world's top researchers and institutions, as well as numerous biotech firms and large pharma, including 6 of the top 10 big pharma companies.

As a Sequence Data Analyst, you will be part of the small team of Services Data Analysts performing sophisticated data analysis on next generation sequencing data generated in our Services laboratory for our customers.

You will be responsible for setting up automated systems for processing of very large volumes of primary and derived data, data mining, statistical analysis, and for reporting of results. You will be making use of existing software tools and will work closely with R&D to improve the quality of such tools. As our offerings evolve, you will be expected to learn and master new tools transferred from R&D.

As part the Data Analysis group, you will work closely with the Laboratory Manager on troubleshooting and assist in implementing laboratory quality control measures and assess results accordingly. You will also work closely with the Project Managers who interface with our customers.

Job duties include but are not limited to:
    • Utilize existing analysis tools and systems for high throughput analysis of whole genome sequence data and other applications
    • Evaluate analyzed sequence data for completeness, accuracy and quality.
    • Prepare raw and analyzed results for delivery to clients.
    • Communicate results in form suitable to other laboratory personnel and provide feedback to internal development teams
    • Work with R&D to improve the quality of the existing tool and support the role out of new tools.

    Qualifications:
    • M.S. in Bioinformatics, Physics, Math, Computer Science or similar field or B.S. with 3+ years experience.
    • Experience with automation for analysis of very large and complex data sets.
    • Strong statistical and data analysis skills.
    • Familiarity with standard bioinformatics tools and visualization packages ( R, Bioperl, Matlab, blast variants, etc…).
    • Strong knowledge of Perl and/or Python and Unix command line mandatory, additional experience with Unix clusters a big plus.

When you join the high-performing team at Illumina, your work takes on new meaning—to an exponential degree. Our growth, our positive culture, and the impact our products are having in the world ignite a passion that drives our people forward. And together, we accomplish beyond expectations.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
      by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
