Picard 1.138 on ubuntu 14.04

It would appear that java isn't installed properly on ubuntu 14.04:

Using Picard-tools-1.138 and the picard.jar is there.

The program 'java' can be found in the following packages:
 * default-jre
 * gcj-4.8-jre-headless
 * openjdk-7-jre-headless
 * gcj-4.6-jre-headless
 * openjdk-6-jre-headless
Try: sudo apt-get install <selected package>

Though I didn't get this error using 12. Is there something wrong weith my command? Thank you .

Are you asking for validation of the obvious solution (i.e. correct the java install)?

Is the best way to install java:

 sudo apt-get install java

The program 'picard-tools' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install picard-tools

I added to path using:

 export PATH=/home/cmccabe/Desktop/NGS/picard-tools-1.138:$PATH

I will use that . Just didn't have to do it on 12 so I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. Thank you .
