  • Brief Introduction

Well, alright, I should probably be working on a manuscript or two, or processing some sequences, but I'll take a quick shot at an introduction:

I'm currently a graduate student at the BC Genome Sciences Centre, in Vancouver, BC, working towards a PhD in bioinformatics. My focus is on the use of Illumina/Solexa sequencing to identify mutations/pathways/genes involved in the development of cancers (primarily breast cancer). I've also been involved in several other projects, including transcriptome analysis, ChIP-Seq analysis and even a bit of aligner work.

I currently have software developed in Java (cross-platform) to work on all of these different experiment types, and I'm slowly releasing them once they reach some semblance of maturity.

I also blog on the topic of next-gen sequencing, on occasion, on my blog at fejes.ca.

    Cheers!

    Anthony

    Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
    by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
