  • Argon

    Hi all,

Can any of the Ion Torrent user let me know the Argon consumption levels of their machines? I will soon get the machine and just today was told that it requires argon as a carrier
    Thanks,

We have had our PGM since the end of Frebruary, made 48 runs and still have not needed to replace. We were told that we could expect to replace the tank every 4-6 weeks if we ran it every day.

      argon tank

      Hello Claudia,

How big is your argon tank, in cubic feet (CF)? Thanks.

40 CF lasts about a month.

Wash out the used chips and run again. Put into centrifuge and spin upside down to get things out of the well. Just don't let them dry out.

Do you have any data after washing out the chip? I was going to try this as well.

            And now next question:
What you do with used dNTP?
            SAP phosphatase can degrade dNTPs.

i would like to know too how you wash your used chips! If we could use them again would be really nice!

              Pls give a short explanation!!

              I'll start a topic!

                Use sonication bath prior centrifuging?

                  Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
                  by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

                  Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
                  by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
