  • Unexpected end-of-file ERR with PHYLIP

I was testing Phylip protdist using the default setting. My input file is:

    7 9
    4950 CTREGLTAS
    4376 CARWETGTA
    4752 CARELTGTT
    5657 CARSGNGST
    4348 CAR-GVSSA
    1548 CARSDLGPA
    4451 CARSGLGSA

    I kept getting:
    ERROR: Unexpected end-of-file.

I tried proml or promlk and got the same error. What am I missing here, pls?

The Phylip developed solved the puzzle - the names are too short.

In fact, manual is not exhaustive...

I solved this by extending names to required length of 10 symbols and adding TAB in the end of each title.

        Hello
Could you be so kind as to write the corrected input file from the above example ?
I tried to run protdist on the following:

        6 39
        HermitL_A;FDILAFWHAHEERYPRLSKLALRILAIPASSASCERAFR
        Homer_Bt;;FNLMEWWQSNQSKYPHLSKFALQIHAIPASSAAAERSFS
        Hermes_Md;FKVMEWWNLNSKKYPKLSKLALSLLSIPASSAASERTFS
        Hobo_Dm;;;FEVIEWWKNNANLYPQLSKLALKLLSIPASSAELKECFP
        Ac9_Zm;;;;FDILSWWRGRVAEYPILTQIARDVLAIQVSTVASESAFS
        IVS2L_m45;TKELSLFELHGKLSRNLDMIFDALKSIKPTSTDSERVFS

I got the ERROR: Unexpected end-of-file.
And I do not catch what is wrong here...
        Thanks ahead

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

          Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
          by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
