The St. Anna Kinderspital and the Children´s Cancer Research Institute (CCRI) located in Vienna, Austria, are known for providing the highest quality of childhood cancer patient care and development of new treatment strategies, respectively. For our Bioinformatics Core Facility we are looking for a Bioinformatician/Bioinformatics Data Analyst who will conduct analyses of genomics data from childhood cancers in close collaboration with molecular biologists, geneticists, pediatric oncologists and other bioinformaticians. Current projects include genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic analyses of pediatric leukemia and solid tumors on primary tumors and liquid biopsies (disseminated tumor cells and cell-free circulating tumor DNA), and the analysis of experimental model systems.

As part of the bioinformatics core facility you will:
    • Support CCRI scientists conducting genomics projects in all stages from the experimental planning to data interpretation, visualization and writing papers

    • Use state of the art methods and develop pipelines for the analysis of NGS data including whole-genome sequencing (WGS), whole-exome sequencing (WES), gene panels, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq,etc.

    • Integrate data from different sources (including literature data) to flexibly meet the demands of individual projects

    • Participate in collaborations, train users in the application of bioinformatics tools

    Your Qualifications:
    • Degree or extensive track record in bioinformatics, computational biology or data analysis

    • Experience with NGS data analysis, including WGS, WES, ChIP-seq and RNA-seq

        Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
        by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
