Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Bioinformatics of Next-Generation Sequencing at The Johns Hopkins University
This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a newly established multidisciplinary research team inside a thriving and successful Comprehensive Cancer Center. The main task will be the analysis of data produced using multiple experimental protocols on an Applied Biosystems SOLiD sequencing instrument. The successful candidate will have a PhD in molecular biology, computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field, and ideally will be familiar with and have expertise in the management and analysis of large-scale genomics datasets. Basic skills with the UNIX/Linux operating system are essential and a strong background in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g. C++, R, Perl or Python) will be considered an advantage. The instruments are part of a core resource serving the cancer center and the entire university; projects are expected to be innovative and challenging and will come from many different areas. The successful candidate will join the bioinformatics and biostatistics team within the group, whose members include many at the forefront of high-throughput analysis research.
