    1. Managing the public release of FDA generated sequence data (i.e. interfacing with various databases at NCBI).
    2. Analyzing DNA sequences from pathogenic bacterial strains using phylogenetic, population genetic, and comparative genomic approaches.
    3. Assisting in the generation of DNA sequence data using next generation sequencing technologies (Illumina, 454, PacBio, and IonTorrent).

    Requirements:
    1. Experience with DNA sequence analysis
    2. Proficiency working in a linux/unix environment
    3. Expertise with at least one programming language (i.e. perl, python, java, etc.)
    4. At lease some experience with wet bench work (i.e. PCR, DNA sequencing).

Applicants should have a Bachelors or Masters degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science, or related field.

    Salary:
Experience dependent: 40-45K with Bachelors degree, 55-60K with Masters degree.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
