  • Venting a 3730XL

In the final hours of the Sanger era, I am finally getting around to venting our ABI 3730XL. We have 4" diameter flexible tubing connected to an inline fan and wired to our air return vent. (Which goes directly out the chimney because that part of our lab is on 100% outside air...)

Any advice to offer before we make the final connections and turn the fan on?

It did not cause any problems. We had largely overcome the lab excess heat issues by the time this was accomplished, so I can't tell you if it was particularly effective. But, near as I can tell, the instrument continued to work exactly the same.

This was more of an academic exercise then

          Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
          by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
