  • Hi Iam a beginner to metagenomics kindly help,

iam starting my Phd work in marine metagenomics, I need a basic guidance about this topic. I neither have bio technical nor microbiological background so unable to get a grip on the DNA extraction, cloning, PCR and sequencing. Even a pinch of data is sincerely appreciated. My understanding about the topic is metagenomics is used as an culture independent method to understand the environmental microbes.
As my knowledge on this topic is very limited i am unable to understand and acknowledge the technical advancement and appropriate use of these techniques to implement. My questions are
1.What is the pipeline to proceed from sample collection till sequencing.
2.Some articles speaks on DNA extraction then cloning and library construction but some gives other insights.
3.What should i do to get the sequence from a marine sample.
    Awaiting for the replies.

    regards
    Vishnu

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
