  • 2014 NextGen Genomics & Bioinformatics Technology Conference

“Next-Gen Genomics & Bioinformatics Technologies (NGBT) Conference” will be held from Nov 17th-19th, at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, INDIA. The meeting is organized by SciGenom Research Foundation (SGRF) along with NIMHANS and Institute of Bioinformatics (IBO), Bangalore, India. This is the fourth international conference being co-hosted with a national institute partner by SciGenom Conferences, the educational outreach arm of SciGenom Research Foundation (SGRF), setup to promote Science education and Research in India/Asia-Pacific region.

The 2014 conference will showcase and promote applications of nextgen sequencing and genomics technologies for basic studies to translational work all areas of biology including human genetics, drug discovery, clinical medicine, biomarkers, diagnostics, animal science and agriculture. The conference will also feature a bioinformatics workshop and expanded sessions on cancer signaling. Further, there will be exciting poster awards supported by Nature Reviews Cancer, Elife, Journal of Cell Science, and many more for exciting work presented by students and postdocs.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
