  • Combitips

So last year, after many months of struggling, it came down to our high % enrichment being caused for the Matrix pipettor we were using. When we switched over to an Eppendorf Repeater Pipettor, those problems went away.

Now they have discontinued the combitips - and replaced them with a new version. I'm 80% sure there will be no difference, but I also know the smallest change can have a huge impact on sequencing.

Has anyone tested the newer combitips?

    Fisher's catalog numbers:

    Old # 022266209
    New # 13683703

    Thanks.

Hi there! We just found out that the combitips plus have been discontinued and I'm worried that our runs won't turn out so well with the new tips. So do they work on for the emPCR on the Junior? How did it turn out?

      Afternoon!
These worked for us (the new catalog number) - hopefully those aren't the ones discontinued as well. We use them for both the FLX as well as the JR.

By the way, I just checked Fishers catalog and they have them in stock (the new tips). Sue

In the Nov 2012 FLX+ system table of materials needed but not provided, combitip advanced tips are listed. Not sure if these match the part numbers mentioned earlier.

            Hi all,
We finally used the new tips and it worked! There were no shredded emulsions. Thank you so much for the input.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
              by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

              Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
              by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
