  • Biomek NXp for liquid handling? Recommendations?

We are looking to purchase a liquid handler for the lab and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations or warnings against any specific platform?

We would like to not only perform Truseq Library generation and qPCR set up on the instrument, but also have the ability to alter protocols (or build your own) for custom assays.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Any thoughts on the Biomek NXP?

    Hi HICORE,

I want to preface this post by saying that I do work for Aurora Biomed so I do have a bias, however, as the Genomic Application Specialist at Aurora I would love to encourage you to check out the VERSA liquid handling workstations which have pre-programmed protocols for the TruSeq setup and will let you create custom protocols as you've indicated. If you'd like to learn more feel free to send me an email!

    Cheers

      Hey Hicore,

We have the biomek FXp and just programmed it to do our liquid handling for generating next gen libraries and the qPCR steps. Did you get an NXp? If so, how is it going? Do you have major discrepancies between samples or are they quite uniformed?

      Thanks

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
        by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

        Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
        by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
