    Schedule: Full Time (40 hours per week)
    Shift: Day Shift: Monday - Friday Hours: 8:00-4:30

    Job Details: General Summary Works with other Master's and Ph.D. bioinformatics analysts to provide bioinformatics support to the Center for Genes, Environment, and Health, as well as other scientists that are collaborating with the Center.

    Essential Responsibilities

    1.Collaborates with and supports the Center for Genes, Environment, and Health scientists in the area of bioinformatics analysis.


    2.Assist with the design and development of major bioinformatics-related programming projects.


    3.Writes custom scripts to access databases and analyze data.


    4.Writes custom web tools for scientists.


    5.Develops and uses gene/protein functional annotation tools and programs.


    6.Performs all other duties as assigned.


    Knowledge and Skills Entry-level familiarity with bioinformatics in solving biologically important questions. Bachelors-level training in high-throughput data analysis and familiarity with widely used genomic databases and software. Must have a background in utility programming (C Shell, Perl, BioPerl, JAVA, and other languages) in a Linux environment, as well as familiarity with designing, developing, and programming databases (Oracle, MySQL). Must demonstrate a desire and aptitude for detailed analytical work and demonstrate proficiency in problem solving, excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.

    Certification and Licensure None

    Education Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, statistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, and/or life sciences required.
