  • Call for papers and participants on Next Generation Sequencing (CAMDA 2009)

    Dear Colleagues

We invite you to participate in the ninth international conference for the Critical Assessment of Massive Data Analysis (CAMDA2009), http://www.camda2009.org, which will be held in Chicago, IL, USA from Oct. 5 to 6, 2009.

This year's topic is about next-generation sequencing. CAMDA2009 will have two tracks.

Track I: Analysis based on a common contest ChIP-seq dataset

CAMDA adopts the approach of a community-wide experiment, letting the scientific community analyze the same contest data sets (a public ChIP-seq dataset). Researchers worldwide are invited to take the CAMDA challenge. Results of analysis are discussed and compared at the CAMDA conference.

Track II: Reviews related with Next Generation Seqeuencing

All types of review articles related with next generation seqeuencing are welcome to submit.

Accepted submissions will be asked to give an oral presentation and plan to be published in PLoS One as a CAMDA2009 special collection. All published articles will be indexed by SCI and Medline.

CAMDA2009 provides a unique environment for testing and demonstrating your latest analysis methods in next-generation sequencing. Your participation is critical for making this year's CAMDA meeting again a great event.

    Important dates and submission guidelines:

Aug 20, 2009 Title of the talk due (optional)

Sept 10, 2009 Extended Abstract (>=2 pages) due

    Sept 18, 2009 Acceptance notification

Jan 15, 2010 Full paper submission

For more information, please visit http://www.camda2009.org

    Sincerely,

    CAMDA2009 organizers

    Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
    by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
