  • cleaning up illumina data

    Hi there,

I have recently received my illumina sequence data (Paired-ends module) which are transcriptome. I have done the fastqc analyses for a quality control assessment of the data which was good. As I am using the windows platform, I would like to know which softwares can be used for cleaning up the paired ends sequences? some people are using Tagcleaner (Standalone version) which is designed for linux platform users not for windows. The Trimmomatric is the pipeline software which can be used along with the Tagcleaner. Could you please introduce me some other clean up softwares for windows users?

    Thanks
    Javid

If you don't have access to a Linux machine, you can use the fastq manipulation tools under Galaxy.

Just download VMplayer and run ubuntu through it.... hey-presto you have a linux virtual machine on your windows machine

        Thanks colleagues,
I need to check the programs you introduced to see if they work for my data.

        cheers

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

          Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
          by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
