Description:
At the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany we recently started an initiative of personalized oncology. The initiative is lead by Prof. Peter Lichter, Prof. Roland Eils and Prof. Christof von Kalle. In the group of Prof. Peter Lichter we aim to bring RNA-Sequencing into clinical application and invite applications for a PhD-Position for the analysis of next generation sequencing data with focus on RNA-sequencing.
The group has successfully performed several projects using high throughput sequencing technologies. We recently published a 2nd generation sequencing study on catastrophic DNA rearrangements in medulloblastoma in Cell. The team is international and multidisciplinary in a lively and friendly working atmosphere, and state of the art computing infrastructure. We are looking forward to expanding our team by a dedicated and strongly motivated person with distinct interest in the challenges of modern sequencing technologies.

Your profile:
• Master degree in bioinformatics or biology with strong background in informatics/statistics (ideally experience with sequence analysis tools)
or a related discipline
• Knowledge of, and preferably experience with, handling (large) data sets, knowledge of molecular genetics and understanding of lab methods, knowledge of genome sequencing concepts
• Solid programming and UNIX background
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in English
