  • Price of sequencer

Hello, how much is MiSeq (include service. warranty)? I saw Illumina has MiniSeq online. Has anyone used it before? How much is MiniSeq?

MiniSeq was announced at ~$50K that probably includes 1 yr warranty/service. You will have to contact a sales person to get exact pricing.

Thanks, do you know how much is MiSeq roughly. For individual research lab (not sequencing lab), which is better?

Don't know for sure but somewhere between $100-125K would be my guess.

Depends on how much sequencing you will doing and what yield you need per sample. If you can afford it, MiSeq may be best, since it is truly a workhorse. You can potentially sell spare capacity to others locally to recoup some of your investment.

I'm not that familiar with either but in my mind I just thought of the MiniSeq as a cheaper version of the MiSeq, with the downside that you can't do long (for Illumina) reads. They both do 25M clusters, do a run in a day, but the MiSeq supports 2x300 reads and the MiniSeq does 2x150.

Plus MiniSeq uses 2-color chemistry. Something to keep in mind.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
              by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

              Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
              by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
