  • Analysis of the 454 results

    Hi,all!
    I'm fresh in 454 sequencing and here, but I am keen to know more information on this field. Then I have a simple question:
    >contig00005 length=47 numreads=179 gene=isogroup00001 status=it_thresh
    what's the meaning of the "numreads" and "gene=isogroup00001 "?
    Thanks very much.
    Regards;
    Zoe.

    numreads should be, I hope, obvious. It is simply the number of reads making up the contig.

    gene is the large grouping from which the contig arises. Looking at the 454 Newbler manual will give a better feel for the differences between contigs and isogroups -- you really need to know this if you are doing 454 sequencing. Also I and others have written about isogroups in SeqAnswers. Take a search through the forum.

      I recommend reading Lex's (flxlex) blog:

      In depth information on GS-FLX software.
