  • Anybody interested in writing a review on a next-gen bioinformatics topic?

    Hello!

One of my more neglected duties is that I am on the editorial board of Briefings in Bioinformatics, a review journal from Oxford University Press.

Skimming back through the last year, I see only one review explicitly on a next-gen sequencing topic (miRNA analysis). This is a void which should be filled!!!

If you would be interested in writing a review on a topic area, such as assembly, epigenomics, variation analysis, etc. etc, please send me a private message with your contact information and a brief outline of what you might cover. We can build off from there.

Don't think that because you don't have a publication record in that area that you shouldn't consider writing a review! This is an opportunity to establish such a presence. Of course, your submission will be very carefully read and checked, but as long as you can demonstrate authority in the field and the ability to translate that into a readable and informative review it should be publishable.

argh, meant to PM - ignore.

mods - feel free to delete this and spare me the embarrassment.

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
      by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
      by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
