Hello, I'm Thomas Parsons, Director of Forensic Science of the International Commission on Missing Persons (www.ic-mp.org). We maintain the world's highest-throughput forensic DNA laboratory for identification of persons missing from armed conflict, human rights abuses, genocide, natural disaster, accidents, terrorism, trafficking, and migration.
We are beginning a focus on NGS for missing persons applications, where the following characteristics of assays are desired: works with small amounts of degraded DNA, targets many loci for high informativeness in genetic kinship analysis (identifying individuals by comparison to relatives), high multiplexing, and high cost effectiveness overall.
I look forward to fruitful exchange in this rapidly developing field.
Best, Tom
