cut fasta

Hi most knowledgeable people.

I've got a simple dilema but im too new to this to be able to work it out. A recent windows to linux convert.
I have a fasta sequence with one sequence (very long) in it and i would like to cut out a range into a smaller file.

>sequence1
ACGAGATAGCGATTTGATCGATGCGCTAGC........etc

how would i cut out base pairs 300000 to 500000?

Its ok ive solved my own problem
Biopython SeqIO.write after chosing the range [xx:xx]
Easy. Can delete this now.
