We are expanding our Bioinformatics Core to handle 454 data analysis from two dedicated Titanium sequencers. Our users have several applications in mind: lots of metagenomics, some de novo sequencing, some resequencing, some transcription analysis. And I need to plan for having both sequencers running at capacity.
Two questions:
1) which are the best Cores that are already doing this sort of thing, and whom do I contact at them for sage advice?
2) any idea how much horsepower and storage I need? (I realize it's impossible to answer that, but any rules of thumb or words of wisdom would help).
3) who has the best integrated software for the relatively naiive user? (for example, RDP at MSU has a decent pipeline in development)
