    This position is located in Rockville Maryland goal is to speed scientific discovery and facilitate translational research by coordinating, developing and deploying NIH-wide biomedical informatics and computation genomics analysis,. bioinformatics develops, provides and fosters biomedical informatics infrastructure and scientific management information technology systems to NIH scientists and NIH-funded groups the biomedical research communities in support of cancer research and NCI program staff It provides biomedical informatics and IT tools, applications, and data to transform cancer research and improve patient care by enabling researchers, physicians, patients, and administrators to make data-driven management decisions and informed choices among evidenced-based approaches to prevention and care.

    The incumbent will be overseeing and working with a group of Bioinformatics scientist, program Analysts, and administrative support staff, who are responsible for carrying out these collaborative research projects both with the intramural and extramural scientist. Serving as a key advisor and consultant- for the division director in bioinformatics and computational genomics issues, policies, and program directions related to genomics research,
    The incumbent will be collaborating with the other intramural and extramural divisions scientist in leading the Institute's genomics research programs; this involves collectively managing biomedical informatics resources, research and training to achieve division goals. Serve as the division spokesperson for research and broader implications of areas encompassed by genomics and bioinformatics research. Provide leadership and scientific expertise in the planning and implementation of supported biomedical informatics and computation genomics studies or activities. Serve as Program/Project Officer to develop, coordinate, and administer research projects, cooperative agreements, and contracts established to fulfill the mission of the branch and division.

    The incumbent will be responsible for Bioinformatics and computational genomics analyses in order to translate genetic and genomic observations into insights concerning diseases etiology. To this end, the incumbent will be developing bioinformatics tools and carrying out analyses to support biomedical informatics and computational genomics research needs relating to human diseases. The incumbent should proficient in the bioinformatics analysis tools using current technology such genome-wide generation of multidimensional molecular data assessing copy number alterations, nucleotide substitutions, insertion/deletions, rearrangements, and epigenetic changes. Furthermore, next generation sequencing technology provides complete gene and genome sequence. The bioinformatics team has created approaches and tools to integrate, display, and interpret these diverse, systems-wide data generated by the next generation sequencing. Requires a robust systems platform to support their development, analysis and collaboration efforts

    As the bioinformatics group manager, the incumbent acts as a driving force for the timely completion of project activities and attainment of project objectives within established project plans and performance goals set by the division director as well as collaborating PIs within the NIH and outside of the NIH.

    In addition the incumbent’s scientific duties, she/he will be involved in preparing manuscripts as well as editing manuscripts for other members of division team for publication.
