  • Postdoc position and bioinformatician position in cancer genomics

A computational postdoc position and a bioinformatician position are available in my recently established Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics at the Centre for Integrative Biology (CIBIO) in Trento, Italy.

Successful candidates will be mainly involved in the design and implementation of strategies to study the role of inherited polymorphisms in combination with timedependent variables and somatic events on cancer genesis, progression and treatment resistance. Candidates will be also involved in the analysis of NGS data from tumor tissues and plasma DNA (liquid biopsies) to chart tumor evolution and treatment resistance.

The ideal postdoc candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or equivalent, experience in the analysis of next generation sequencing and high-density array data from human cells, strong analytical and quantitative background and programming skills. Background in cancer genomics is recommended.

The ideal bioinformatician candidate will have a four or five years degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or equivalent, experience in the management of large datasets, implementation of processing pipelines and strong programming skills. Background in biology/genomics is a plus.

We offer full-time contracts of 1 or 2 years (renewable) to start by end of March 2018.

Highly motivated individuals are invited to send a detailed CV, a cover letter describing research interests and experience, and contact information for two references to Alessandro Romanel ([email protected]).

    Greetings from Corpus Christi,

I finished the Geospatial Computer Science doctoral program at TAMUCC. Can I apply? Where can I find the job description? I have a CELI certificate to prove my Italian level. Thanks.

      Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
      by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
