  • Existence Genetics - analysis & reporting of close to 1,500 phenotypes and growing

Hello community! Wanted to introduce our company, Existence Genetics, which specializes in clinical interpretation and straightforward, actionable reporting of genetic data. Using a proprietary DNA chip manufactured by Illumina, we currently test for, analyze, and provide reporting for around 1,500 phenotypes at a single time via a noninvasive (saliva-based) test. In addition to a comprehensive analysis of multifactorial phenotypes that provides a single lifetime risk calculation for each phenotype, we also provide a rare disease screen that assesses carrier/affected status of over 1,000 rare diseases, conditions, and traits (analyzing over 1,000 genes at a single time!). We utilize our Nexus technology platform, including Reflex analysis, to provide useful information to healthcare providers and their patients throughout the world.

We look forward to being active participants of this community! We're always happy to meet new people in the sequencing community so please drop us a line if you'd like to talk further.

We look forward to meeting you!
    Brandon Colby, MD

Thanks ECO! As we focus on personalized genomics and predictive medicine thought it made sense to say hello in that forum but appreciate you moving us to the most appropriate locale.

Saw your in the Bay Area - if you're ever down in LA, stop by and say hello as it would be great to meet you in person.

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

          Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
          by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
