RESEARCH SCIENTIST/ENGINEER 3
The Department of Genome Sciences is comprised of 25 labs addressing leading edge questions in biology and medicine by developing and applying genetic, genomic and computational approaches taking advantage of genomic information now available for a host of species. The Department of Genome Sciences expects to make major contributions in the application of genome science to understand the fundamentals of biology and to improve human health and well-being.
The Department of Genome Sciences has an outstanding opportunity for a RESEARCH SCIENTIST ENGINEER 3. The Research Scientist will conduct genomic research in the Nickerson lab focusing on the analysis of next-generation DNA sequencing data.
Job duties include:
• Management of computer space & common bioinformatics tools
• Processing, analysis, and distribution of next-generation DNA sequencing data
• Running well-developed pipelines for next-generation DNA sequence mapping and variant analysis
• Development and optimization of scripts and algorithms to improve on current practice
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science or Engineering with at least five years of experience in research, data analysis, and/or programming or Masters degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science or Engineering with at least three years of experience in research, data analysis, and/or programming
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
