  • Replace me: post-doctoral bioinformatician at the DZNE (Bonn, Germany)

    Original job posting here and copied below. In short, we're looking for a replacement for me, as I'm moving to a staff scientist position elsewhere in a couple weeks. Our group works broadly on what would be categorized as mouse models of neurocognitive disorders (Alzheimer's disease, Down's syndrome, etc.) and increasingly the role of epigenetic modifications in shaping neurocognition. We have a relatively large number of on-going projects that my replacement would likely become involved in (I'll help out for a while, but there are only so many hours in the day). The ideal candidate would have a background in working on transcriptomics and/or bisulfite-sequencing datasets. Unlike many bioinformatician positions, you'd have ownership of your own projects and would have opportunity for wet-lab and behavioural experiments (i.e., you're not a "data analysis monkey" that's expected to always be a second-class lab member).     Bioinformatician (f/m) – Code 1302/2015/3

    The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that performs translational research on Neurodegenerative Diseases. The center includes nine high-performing sites in Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen and Witten.

    Bioinformatician (f/m) – Code 1302/2015/3

    within the group of Dr. Ehninger at the DZNE site Bonn.

    Our group is interested in molecular and cellular mechanisms that contribute to neuropsychiatric and aging-associated disorders. To this end, we employ mouse models and multidisciplinary experimental approaches including genomics and epigenomics, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, neurophysiology and behavioral neuroscience tools. The group is also interested in translating findings from preclinical models to human populations.

    We offer committed mentorship, exciting research projects, an excellent scientific environment in an emerging major site for translational neuroscience research, state-of-the-art facilities and good funding.     We are looking for a highly motivated and initiative individual with a recent PhD degree, as well as a strong background in next generation sequencing and bioinformatics as applied to genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic data analysis. Fluency in English, good communication skills and capacity for teamwork are required.
