  • MetaVelvet not running

    Hi guys,

I have an issue with the metavelvet software (v1.2.02). I've followed the installation and usage manual accordingly, but when running the metavelvet itself, it simply returned with the usage manual all over again.

    Command line used:-

    meta-velvetg out-dir [-ins_length 260] | tee logfile

The command line was executed in the directory containing the necessary output from velveth and velvetg:-
    -Graph2
    -Logfile
    -Roadmaps
    -Sequences

    Is there something I'm missing?

    Thanks.

Usually when you get the usage page, it indicates there is something wrong with your syntax. I can see 2 problems:

    1. the square brackets indicate an optional parameter, so you should remove the square brackets, and run either

    Code:
    meta-velvetg out-dir -ins_length 260 | tee logfile
    or

    Code:
    meta-velvetg out-dir | tee logfile
    2. the next problem is that if you are running the command from inside the directory with your output files, meta-velvet will not find the directory out-dir, so either specify the complete path to out-dir, or run meta-velvet from one directory up from what you are doing now.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
      by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

      Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
      by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
