  • Data Analysis Scientist for The Scripps Research Institute, Florida

The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) is seeking a Data Analysis Scientist for its Florida campus. Working within the Genomics Core, the selected candidate will work as part of a collaborative team analyzing data from next generation sequencing, microarrays, and cell based screening. They will develop statistical and computational tools to detect significant changes in gene expression, regulation, and splice variation, generate reports to summarize these results, and store results in a database. In addition, this scientist will regularly communicate research findings to other scientists in the institute to drive current and future experimental direction. Research priorities include: analysis of RNA-splicing, disease-gene association studies, pathway analysis and association, ontology creation and data mining of sequence information.

Requirements: Bachelors degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained, a Masters degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experience, or a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline with a research focus that is directly related. Experience with sequence analyses, microarray data and genomic databases, and proficiency with Perl, Python and RUBY are required. Experience with MySQL, C+/Java, and at least one of the following: R, Bioconductor, MATLAB, Spotfire, or CLC, is preferred. Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.

Florida and Palm Beach County residents are preferred.
