Does anyone know if it's possible to install the DataProcessing and DataAnalysis software in a location other than /opt/454? I emailed Roche support this question on Jan 7th and called them a couple of days ago but they have not yet responded.

Yes it is possible at least for programs such as gsRunProcessor, gsAssembler, runAssembly, etc. We have ours installed in /usr/local/rig/bin/ on one machine and in my personal directory on another. Set the RIGDIR. E.g., in my bash profile I have
RIGDIR=$HOME/454; export RIGDIR
PATH=$RIGDIR/bin:$PATH; export PATH
(BTW: Yes, I know there are other ways of exporting)

I should have explicitly said that both of my machines are off-rig ones. The computer actually attached to the instrument is probably using /opt. That being said, perhaps because I just upgraded I had no problems. A denovo install may have problems. A printout from the computer where I have the software installed in my own directory:
> which gsRunProcessor
~/454/bin/gsRunProcessor
> gsRunProcessor -V
gsRunProcessor 2.5.3 (20101201_1432)

So all I can say is that installing elsewhere should be feasible.

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...-

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...-
