  • Names of circular plots?

    hello,

who knows the names of these types of circular plots (see attachment), and which programs (best R-packages) can produce them.

    thank you,

    dietmar

Speaking of these... has anyone here actually taken the time to learn how to use Circos? I looked at the docs once and it seemed like it would take longer than I felt like dedicating. Any thoughts?

          trial and error

as usual by such complex tasks, take an example which is most similar to your problem and change it using your data (reverse engeneering). solve problems with google and foums...
reading tons of documentation is often not necessary...

I agree with Dietmar13. In the Circos webpage you can find examples that are/were used for Genomics. In gral., people use scatter or line plots for CNVs, the classical links for inter and intrachromosomal rearrengements and gene fusions and heatmaps for SNPs. All of these can be combined in one plot in different tracks.
Let me know if you have any issues, I may be able to help you.

            Cheers,

            Fernando

I use them, and experimented with making dynamic visualizations: http://vimeo.com/47676837

                Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
                by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

                Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
                by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
