The Division of Molecular Genetics is seeking a
Postdoctoral Position
(Ref-No. 40/2015)
Description:
A post-doctoral position is available at the Division of Molecular Genetics at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg for a computational biologist who wants to further specialize in epigenome informatics. The Division of Molecular Genetics, headed by Peter Lichter, is comprised of a mix of molecular and compu- tational biologists working as a multidisciplinary team on a wide range of geno- mics and epigenomics research projects. We already successfully analysed seve- ral genomic data sets and integrated transcriptome and methylome level data (e.g. Hovestadt et al. Nature). The team is international and multidisciplinary in
a lively and friendly working atmosphere, and state of the art computing infrastructure.
Your profile:
We are looking forward to expanding our team by a dedicated and strongly motivated person with distinct interest in the challenges of modern sequencing applications. The successful applicant will lead the integrative analysis for an genome project investigating the mechanism of therapy resistance. Based on mulitilevel genomeic profiling using whole genome sequencing, whole genome bisulfite sequencing, RNA- and ChIP-sequencing the applicant will be encouraged to develop own research ideas in the area of (epi-) genome regulation, evolution of the (epi-) genome and development of therapy resistance. The candidate should have experience in analysing short read DNA sequencing data ideally
in the context of genomes, transcriptomes or epigenomes (i.e. DNa mutations, DNA methylation, histone modifications, general DNA-protein interactions). Demonstrable skills in programming and biostatistics (e.g. Perl, Python, R, Matlab) as well as the Linux computing environment (e.g. BASH, HPC usage)
are essential. Candidates with a background in computer science, mathematics or statistics should be familiar with molecular biological methods. The candidate will closely interact with molecular biologists therefore good communication skills are required. The application should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, copies of relevant degree certificates, contact details for at least two reference persons.
Duration:
The position is limited until April 31, 2017
Contact:
Dr. Marc Zapatka, m.zapatka @ dkfz.de
Application Deadline:
