  • Removing bacterial contamination from plant tissue before sequencing

Hello, is there a way to remove bacterial contamination from plant tissue before sequencing? We are planning on washing the tissue with weak bleach to kill the bacteria from the surface of the tissue. Any opinions on that? Or other suggestions? Thanks.

You can try agar embedding method (if interested read this study on this method). Also I know Cl2 gas for example is quite effective. Sure you can identify the bacteria and use antibiotic against the same, still be very cautious with it (here's an interesting study on it http://www.level.com.tw/html/ezcatfi...nation-COR.pdf)

        Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
        by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
