  • SPAdes 3.9.0 on MacOS Sierra (10.12.1)

    I've tried installing SPades 3.9.0 on MacOS Sierra from the binaries, from source, and using conda. Running spades.py --test gives me the same error every time:

    hammer(8625,0x7fffe9a1c3c0) malloc: *** malloc_zone_unregister() failed for 0x7fffe9a12000

    Anyone have any luck installing SPades on MacOS Sierra? Or maybe I've done something else wrong?

    Cheers.

    I won't be much help, but I'm getting the same error. I'll let you know if I find a fix. In the meantime, why don't we both contact the Spades folks: [email protected]

          Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
          by seqadmin

          Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
