  • PacBio Americas User Group Meeting/Workshops - June 27-28 at U. of Maryland Baltimore

Discover how SMRT Sequencing users power their research, learn best practices in applying long-read sequencing technology and get an opportunity to hear about application success stories. Join us for a full day of user presentations (June 28) as well as half-day workshops focused on sample preparation and bioinformatics (June 27).

The user group meeting and workshops will hosted by the Genomics Resource Center, Institute for Genome Sciences at University of Maryland Baltimore. We welcome the participation of those who are considering adopting SMRT Sequencing to join in the discussions and hear directly from existing users.

Hi Wei, we just had our APAC UGM in South Korea and our China UGM in Wuhan in May. We regularly promote these events via email to our database and on the events page of our website: www.pacb.com/events. If you are not on our email list, please feel free to sign up on our website for alerts! Thanks for asking

        Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
        by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

        Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
        by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
