  • Using Haploview to Display Data

    Hello I'm a college student working on a research problem that I've been stuck on.

    I am trying to reformat data into some form readable by haploview in order to display individual SNP's with a variety of weight values. The data I'm working with has a column for individual patients, a row for SNP's, and then a numerical weight value when cross referencing an individual with an SNP.

    Example:

    |||||||||SNP1 SNP2
    Indiviual 3 ||||| 0

    I was wondering if I would be able to reformat this data in a way that it would be readable and meaningful through Haploview (which as I understand is traditionally for analyzing how paired snp's can be relevant to a certain allele). I personally have been unsuccessful in writing a script to convert the data I was given into a format readable by Haploview while also retaining the meaning of the data. At this point it seems as though I should be looking at different tools or formats to map the data, but I was hoping I may have overlooked something that would allow me to use Haploview in this way.

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

    Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

    Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
    by seqadmin

    Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
