Hi,
Wouldn't it be great if people could find a list of programs based on selecting certain properties, such as - data type (Ilmn, 454, Ion, SOLiD, ...) - sample type (genomic DNA, amplicon, ...) - application (metagenomics, assembly, variant calling, ...) - availability (open source, commercial, ...) After clicking the appropriate checkboxes, out would come a list of candidate programs. Perhaps this requires a controlled vocabulary for some of the categories for the wiki, but that should be doable? Lex |

Hey Lex,
Check this out...there could stand to be some vocab improvement as you guess...but it pretty much works as you requested. Feel free to edit the table syntax also...or switch to "tiles" once you've subset the data as you desire. http://seqanswers.com/wiki/Software |

Brilliant! Very useful. For example, there appear to be 22 assembly programs for 454 data (many more than I would have guessed) and 16 for alignment of 454 data. Perl (69) wins over python (49), and 17 fully or partially commercial packages.
