Postdoctoral Fellow Position
Position: We are seeking highly motivated junior scientists to fill multiple post-doctoral research fellow positions in our fast-growing Statistics Genomics Group in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Emory University.
The major research focus of our group is developing and evaluating model-based methods to analyze genetics and genomics data, and developing software so that the methods we develop can be used by the research community. Currently, our research effort is concentrated on analyzing data generated from the next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies. NGS technologies are perhaps the most exciting and fastest-evolving genomics technologies today. The massive amount of data produced by NGS technologies has created many opportunities for biostatistics and bioinformatics research. We are actively collaborating with world-class scientists in Cancer Biology to use NGS technologies to address cutting-edge biological questions. Our collaborative work has appeared in high-impact scientific journals such as Science, Nature, Cancer Cell and Current Biology.
The successful candidates are expected to engage in both methodological and collaborative research. Relevant areas of interest include statistical genetics, genomics, bioinformatics and computational biology. Our group has experience in analyzing ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq and resequencing data. The candidate will have great flexibility to choose his or her own research projects in the stated areas matched with appropriate and close mentorship.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computer science or a related field. Strong computational and programming skills, experience with Bayesian modeling, MCMC, data mining, machine learning, high performance computing and genomics are highly desirable (but NOT required).
Interested applicants should: email their curriculum vitae and arrange to have at least two reference letters sent to: Dr. Steve Qin, Email: [email protected]. See also Nature Job post
