Default Postdoctoral researcher - Genome Informatics and Precision Medicine @ Rutgers Univ.

A postdoc position in genome informatics and precision medicine is available for a highly motivated and independent candidate in the group of Dr. Subhajyoti De at Rutgers University Cancer Institute in NJ, USA.

The candidate will be involved in the newly initiated precision medicine in cancer initiative at Rutgers. The goal of the research is to develop and apply computational genomics and bioinformatics tools, primarily based on next generation sequencing data for better diagnosis, stratification, and treatment of cancer. Dr. De’s group has particular interest in dissecting tumor heterogeneity, single cell genomics, genomic instability, and tumor systems biology, and the candidate is expected to contribute in one or more of these areas. There will be opportunities to work in an interdisciplinary team both in clinical and research settings on a variety of high impact, cutting edge projects. More information about research projects and publications in De-lab can be found at http://www.sjdlab.org/.

The candidate should have a PhD in Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related areas, and demonstrate evidence of proficiency in one or more of the modern programming languages (e.g. Perl, C++, Java, Python etc.) and statistical analyses with R. Knowledge and experience of UNIX / LINUX is required. The individual must have effective communication, team working, problem solving skills, and adaptability to changes in technological and scientific directions.

Preferences will be given to the candidates who have experience of working with next generation sequencing datasets, integrative analysis of large datasets, and running software on a cluster. Exposure to cancer genomics data is preferred but it is not essential.

To apply, please email a CV (including publications and contact details of at least three references) and a cover letter stating goals to Dr. Subhajyoti De (email: sd948@scarletmail.rutgers.edu). Salary will be commensurate with experience. Rutgers University Cancer Institute offers an excellent salary, benefits package, and also opportunities for career development.

The group will be located in the Rutgers University Cancer Institute in New Brunswick, NJ, which is within easy commuting distance from both New York City and Philadelphia via public transit. The campus also enjoys close proximity to multiple major pharmaceutical industries and the vibrant research community in the greater NYC area.
