    Job Description:

The Stanford University Department of Genetics is seeking to hire a full time Life Science Research Assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Jin Billy Li for at least 1-2 years. The newly founded Li lab focuses on studying RNA and DNA variations enabled by genomic technology development. For slightly outdated info of our research, please visit http://genepath.med.harvard.edu/~jli/. This position provides a great opportunity to learn cutting-edge genomic techniques capitalized on next generation sequencing technologies.

Successful applicant must be able to manage molecular biology experiments independently after training. The Life Science Research Assistant will also assist with ordering and maintaining lab equipments and supplies.

    Requirements:

BA or BS in biological sciences or related field required. The desire and ability to learn, and at least one year of laboratory experience are also required. The successful candidate must be efficient and organized, and have excellent communication and team-working skills. Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
      by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

      Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
      by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
