Exclamation biom from QIIME to MEGAN

Greetings all,

I was wondering if someone could help me with an issue importing a .biom file from QIIME into MEGAN. All works well when I import the OTU table (.biom) initially, however it doesn't work after my manual manipulations of the OTU table... here is my process...

1. Create OTU table from and
2. Convert the OTU table (.biom) to a tab delimited text file which I manually edited in Excel (some taxonomies were suspect and lacking so I manually edited them based on other BLAST results.
3. I set up the OTU table to look EXACTLY like the old tab delimited one and convert it back to a .biom file but MEGAN will not import any taxonomic stream or OTU quantities.

Any help for formatting this correctly to use in MEGAN would be greatly appreciated. I can provide further details if necessary. Thanks.
