Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is a world renowned organization dedicated to the progressive control and cure of cancer through programs of patient care, research, and education located in New York City.

The Laboratory of Diagnostic Molecular Pathology performs more than 9,000 diagnostic assays annually and we are looking to add a Bioinformatics Engineer to support, understand and define the needs of clinical and basic research scientists as they relate to experiment design, analytic methods, data modeling, computer hardware, software, and databases in relation to next generation sequencing and general biomedical data. This position will be expected to develop and utilize software and database systems to process and analyze next generation sequencing and general biomedical data for clinical applications and testing. There will be opportunities to design and develop software and databases to build, automate and maintain computational pipelines for research and clinical data analysis.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Manage large volumes of data generated from sequencing experiments
Build, automate, and maintain computational pipelines for data analysis
Consult with representatives of clinical and research groups concerning computational and bioinformatics resource needs
Train clinical laboratorians and research staff in the use of computational and bioinformatics tools
Work alongside the MSK Bioinformatics Core to develop training modules for information sharing
Maintain the integrity and flow of data from instruments to computational equipment

Qualified candidates will have a MA/MS in Bioinformatics or Computer Sciences, PhD highly preferred and at least five (5) years of Bioinformatics software and system development experience. Next generation (Next-gen) sequencing data with Blast, GATK, BWA, Pecard or similiar and Perl, Python, C++ Programming experience required. Must have experience working with cross-disciplinary teams and strong analytical skills.
