  • AMY-tree: an algorithm to use whole genome SNP calling for Y chromosomal phylogenetic

AMY-tree: an algorithm to use whole genome SNP calling for Y chromosomal phylogenetic applications.

The software AMY-Tree (inclusive the WHY-program and the user manual) is freely available on the website bio.kuleuven.be/de/dev (it will be online as soon as the manuscript is accepted). On this website, at least every six months (unless no new data has appeared), an update will be given of the SNP conversion file and of the Updated Y chromosomal phylogenetic tree in tab separated value format based on scientific publications.

I tried using this software on some exome data and it appears to be really slow and memory hogging.

I'd like to know if I can obtain the Y chromosome mutations listed by haplogroup in a machine parse-able format so I can check to see if I can develop a tool with a similar functionality.

      Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
      by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

      Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
      by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
