Description: We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist to join our team of bioinformaticians, molecular biologists and pathologists at the Institute of Pathology, University Hospital Basel, Basel, Switzerland under the supervision of Dr Charlotte K Y Ng and Dr Salvatore Piscuoglio. Dr Ng and Dr Piscuoglio use multi-omics approaches to identify and characterize biomarkers, and to understand the important genetic alterations and their interaction that contribute to the development of cancer.
The laboratory has extensive collaborations with top national and international investigators in molecular pathology and cancer ‘omics. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop, apply and optimize cutting-edge bioinformatics methods, in particular those for massively parallel sequencing, to further our understanding of cancer biology. The candidate will have flexibility to develop their own projects within the scope of the areas of interest within the laboratory. The candidate will also assist in the supervision of PhD students.

Qualifications: PhD in genetics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology or related discipline is required. Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing and genomics, strong computational and/or statistical skills and ability to work independently are required.
Experience with cancer genomics and an understanding of cancer biology would be highly desirable. The ideal candidate would have strong oral and written communications skills in English.
