  • REMI vs OEM for Service Contracts

    Hello,

Has anyone had direct (or indirect) experience with REMI as a service provider for sequencing instrumentation? Was the experience positive or negative?

    Thanks,
    CH

A key question is-- does REMI reimburse the reagents on failed runs or just fix the equipment? Illumina, for example, incurs a significant cost by sending in new reagent packs when a run fails. I would also be very careful if they require a manufacturer's visit to set the rate. What does that cost for Illumina/Roche/etc to do that and who pays? I would get someone versed in reading contracts to look over theirs.

They are a third party insurance broker who provide service for instrumentation (like sequencers), etc. They have won the State of Ohio contract - they offer a 27% discount relative to our current OEM provider (ABI). However, I've heard some less than positive feedback about how they manage and handle repair requests.

I was wondering if anyone has heard or dealt with them previously.

        Thanks,

They do not reimburse for reagents for failed runs, nor for reagents used during normal PM servicing, nor for any part, consumable, or equipment that is directly associated with a "wetted surface".

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
            by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

            Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
            by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
