  • Breakdancer installation problem or error

    Dear SEQanswer users

Hope you are able to help me with the installation of breakdancer.

I've downloaded version 1.4.5. and used the installation instructions in the INSTALL.md file for installing breakdancer on our linux server/computer

The following commands have been runned after unpacking to my destination folder.

    cd /data/mark/tools/breakdancer
    mkdir build
    cd build

    cmake .. -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=release -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr/local

    Then I get the following:

-- The C compiler identification is GNU 4.1.2
-- The CXX compiler identification is GNU 4.1.2
    -- Check for working C compiler: /usr/bin/cc

Anybody know how to solve this problem?

You appear to be using an "aged" version of the GNU compiler. Any chance of using a newer one?

      Hi GenoMax

Thanks a lot for your answer. I am new to compilers. The server is using an "older" linux system CENTOS 5 and is apart from research also used for clinical computations. My question is therefore does update of the compiler also require update of the linux system?

      best regards

      Mark

It may be possible to update the compiler independent of the OS but you should ask your system administrators about that possibility. While you are at it also ask them to compile this software for you :-)

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
          by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
