Full or part time basis
Professor Baulcombe's laboratory is at the forefront of research into small RNAs and their role in regulation, development and evolution. His group is generating a wealth of data using high throughput sequencing, as well as using genetic and cell biology approaches. There is a particular interest in developing methods for the analysis of large databases of siRNAs and miRNAs in Arabidopsis, Chlamydomonas, tomato and other plants, and for modelling the behaviour of small RNA systems and their effect on gene silencing at the RNA and DNA level.
Within the laboratory there is a computational biology group that works closely with experimentalists in the lab. We are looking for talented individuals with quantitative and computational skills to join the group.
Skills in one or more of the following would be an advantage: statistics, computational biology, bioinformatics, programming (R, Perl), databases (mySQL, Postgres). A real interest in biology is essential.
You should have a higher degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, with strong quantitative and/or programming skills and a good knowledge of biology.
