We are looking for a bioinformatician who can help us bring genomics-based technologies to routine clinical use in Sweden.
The Clinical Genomics (Stockholm) (http://www.scilifelab.se/facilities/clinical-genomics/) unit is a national research infrastructure at SciLifeLab. Together with caregivers in Sweden, we will work towards advanced clinical tests based on massively parallel DNA sequencing becoming a part of the routine diagnostics in the health care sector. Our mission is to ensure that the diagnostics offered in Sweden is at the international forefront.
We work in close collaboration with geneticists, molecular biologists, clinicians and others both within SciLifeLab as well as healthcare providers in Sweden. We can offer an environment where the mission is to improve the patient management, exciting work tasks, and a team spirit allowing us to quicker achieve our common goals. On the technical level our work is highly competitive at the international level; we actively work to test the boundaries and develop our services further.
We are looking for a new colleague with expertise in the area of genomics, bioinformatics and programming. The expected duties are connected to an international project for sharing genomics data within the area of rare inherited diseases.
Examples of specific duties
Development of analysis strategies for rare inherited disorders
Establish and develop tools for data sharing
Develop and implement tools for variant classification
Qualifications
Bachelor degree within computer or life sciences, or other equivalent documented experience
Advanced level programming knowhow (knowhow of perl and python is strongly meriting)
Previous experience of NGS and genomics
Fluency in English
Personal qualifications that enhance collaboration internally and externally
Meriting experiences
Experience of work with tools such as Beacon, Matchmaker Exchange and similar
